Purpose

The purpose of the association is to safeguard analog cultural heritage with a particular focus on the digitization and accessibility of film and radio archives. The association focuses on archives from broadcasters, film archives, museums, national archives, private individuals, etc. The association particularly works with materials at risk of deterioration to ensure they are digitally preserved.

In addition to the concrete preservation of archives, the association's purpose is to make the archives accessible to the public, so that the cultural heritage remains alive for citizens. In this way, values such as historical understanding, democracy, and human rights are strengthened. The association operates worldwide

The association was founded with a clear purpose: to preserve and make accessible the world's audiovisual cultural heritage. In an era where valuable historical records are at risk of being lost due to time, technological shifts, or limited resources, we recognized the urgent need to safeguard these treasures. We are dedicated to digitizing and protecting audiovisual materials to ensure that future generations can explore, learn from, and build upon the stories and histories of the past. The association works to ensure that users (e.g., citizens, journalists, documentary filmmakers, etc.) have easy access to and can interact with digitized archives, so they can relatively easily work with them to create new narratives and understandings based on the historical materials.

By collaborating with partners across the globe, we aim to create sustainable solutions that not only preserve these vital records but also make them available to the public, researchers, and creatives. Our work fosters a deeper understanding of cultural identity and collective memory, empowering communities to engage with their heritage in meaningful ways. The Association possesses extensive expertise in the digitization of TV and radio archives through its board and founders. Additionally, the board has competencies in national broadcasters and copyright issues, among others. Finally, the board has deep insights into project management for both national and international projects.
